About This Place

Nestled in the heart of Leicester’s bustling Market Place, ORSO Leicester is a standout coffee shop that artfully combines a warm, welcoming atmosphere with a menu designed to delight every palate. Whether you're starting your day or seeking a relaxed mid-afternoon break, ORSO crafts an experience that feels both genuine and carefully curated.

The coffee here is undeniably a highlight—expertly roasted in-house, it boasts a rich, nuanced flavor profile that aficionados and casual drinkers alike will appreciate. From their silky-smooth Flat White to a perfectly balanced Cappuccino or a robust Americano, every cup promises a comforting embrace. The White Hot Chocolate, made with premium Callebaut chocolate, has been praised for its indulgent creaminess, especially when topped with whipped cream and marshmallows—an absolute hit with visitors of all ages.

But ORSO’s appeal goes far beyond just coffee. Their food offerings create a vibrant tapestry of flavors and textures, making it a true destination for food lovers. Imagine the satisfying crunch of a freshly made bacon bloomer sandwich crafted with Sykes Butcher’s smoked bacon, or the golden warmth of their lightly spiced Chorizo, Halloumi & Egg Hash, bursting with Mediterranean charm. Vegetarians and vegans are also well catered for, with skilfully prepared dishes like the Avocado & Mushroom One Pan Hash and wholesome Oat Waffles. The French Toast, with vanilla and cinnamon notes, served alongside maple syrup and roasted fruit, is a decadent morning treat that has swiftly become a crowd favorite.

The extensive menu also offers lighter bites that are perfect for any time of the day: the BLT Focaccia sandwiches packed with fresh avocado and crispy bacon, the Sausage Focaccia layered with house fig jam and peppery rocket, or the nourishing bowls of coconut Porridge topped with house-made granola. Add-ons like grilled halloumi, smashed avocado, or dippy eggs transform these into personalized feasts that feel crafted just for you.

What truly sets ORSO apart, however, is the heartfelt hospitality. Customers consistently comment on the thoughtful touches that elevate the experience—from being welcomed in with chilled bottled water and small biscuits to attentive staff who anticipate your needs without intrusive service. Dog owners also appreciate the inclusive vibe, as four-legged friends are warmly received. The friendly team’s genuine care even shines through when things don’t go perfectly, such as when a supplier's shortage temporarily sidelines the beloved Cumberland sausage; transparency and apologies are given with sincerity.

The interior may strike some as understated, yet this subtlety only invites you to focus on the real stars: the food, the drinks, and the people. It’s a space that values authenticity over flashiness, offering comfort and consistency in every visit.

As reflected in guest reviews, ORSO is more than just a coffee shop—it’s a community hub where quality, warmth, and a touch of culinary creativity come together to create a memorable experience. If you’re in Leicester and searching for a spot that feels like a second home, with coffee to savor and dishes crafted with care, ORSO Leicester is unequivocally worth a visit.

Great coffee as a start. A wide range of other drinks, hot chocolate was Callebaut based so good raw materials! Only had half of a very nice cheese scone which was nice but I am no authority on the rest of the food. Our dog was welcome. Busy and friendly and super service.

Honestly amazing. So nice to walk into a place that actually feels like it cares. From ordering immediately presented with table water (seems little and pretty basic but it makes such a difference) this was also refilled without us asking! Coffee was great and so was the food. It's such a green flag to have the owner apologise the Cumberland sausage is off because they couldn't get it from the butchers. The custard creams with each coffee is a nice touch too. A lovely independent coffee shop to like this is incomparable in experience to a big chain - please give it a go!

Very good coffee and food. Staff are friendly. Looks a bit dreary but not bad inside. Apparently they roast their own coffee but seem reluctant to make people aware of it. Good, but with the potential to be great.

Definitely coming back to ORSO. Thanks! Without asking it’s nice to have a chilled bottle of water, and biscuit with your hot drink ( the hot chocolate, my nephew loved- whipped cream and marshmallows are a must and they delivered to his high standards) French toast & avo on toast were both sooo good, along with chunky sourdough. They are lovely people too- giving my nephew treats for their dog and having time for him. It’s cute inside with all the little bears, looks perfect! Reading reviews about not taking a laptop inside I completely agree with the owners and happy they had a sign saying ‘laptop free’. The vibe is relaxed and peaceful, very few places are like that now, but ORSO is one! Thank you.

As someone in Leicester for a business trip, I'm so glad I found this cafe. The staff, especially the guy who served me most mornings, was incredibly friendly and positive. The coffee and food were both delicious, and my sausage sandwich was the perfect way to start the day. I loved the lively atmosphere and the cafe dog relaxing in the corner. I'd highly recommend this spot

ORSO Café turned out to be a real gem. The atmosphere is wonderfully cozy: exposed brick walls, warm lighting, and plenty of greenery create a welcoming, slightly bohemian vibe. The interior feels carefully thought out — from vintage lightbulbs to charming floral arrangements on the tables. The food was just as impressive. I had the toast with bacon, poached eggs, and fresh greens — the flavor combination was spot on, and the presentation was neat and appetizing. I especially liked the little details, like the dots of sauce around the plate. The drinks here are a whole separate highlight. Fresh juices and smoothies come in adorable cactus-shaped jars, adding a unique touch to the place. The red smoothie was refreshing and full of flavor, while the green one was milder with subtle herbal notes. All in all, it’s the perfect spot for a relaxed breakfast or a catch-up with friends. Cozy atmosphere, great taste, and attention to detail — that’s what makes ORSO special.

I went there for a coffee on one of the coldest Saturdays in January. The place was crazy popular, packed with customers, but relatively quiet with a lovely ambiance. How wonderful! Great latte. Cake tasted nice but was dry I wouldn’t order again. But would come back again for hot drink and hot food.
